Ignacio Chavez Special Management Area in northwestern New Mexico encompasses primarily the Ignacio Chavez Wilderness Study Area (33,300 acres) and the Chamisa Wilderness Study Area (13,700 acres). The landscape of steep canyons and high rugged cliffs provides rewarding backcountry hiking challenges. Photography is permitted.
