Catwalk #207 Trailhead
The Catwalk National Recreation Trail is a metal walkway suspended through Whitewater Canyon near Glenwood in Catron County, managed by the Gila National Forest (USDA Forest Service). The rebuilt catwalk extends approximately half a mile through the narrow canyon, tracing the historic route of a mining-era water pipeline built in 1893. The trail beyond the rebuilt section was destroyed in the 2013 flood and remains unrestored. A $5/vehicle day-use fee is required; both the America the Beautiful and NM Enchantment passes are honored. High stream flows at low water crossings, particularly from afternoon snowmelt and monsoon rains, present flash-flood risk.
