Spanning the first weekend of August, the Up & Over weekend challenges runners with a demanding 10K Trail Run course on Saturday, August 1st. On Sunday runners can take on the VerticAL’s VertK. Saturday’s Up & Over 10K is notoriously challenging with many runners returning year-after-year to beat their PBs. There are many groups that run together; friends, co-workers, and whole families who want to take on the mountain. The course is a formidable and scenic 2,612’ climb from 9,321′ at the base, topping out at 11,819′. Expect amazing views of Kachina and Wheeler Peaks, followed by a technical descent through high alpine terrain. On Sunday is the Up & Dn Kids race and the VerticAL’s Vert-K, a daunting vertical 1K up TAOS’s Al’s Run. In winter, Al’s is an intimidating long, steep black diamond ski run directly under Lift 1, carved with seemingly infinite measure of moguls. VerticAL’s participants will scramble up from the base to the finish at the top of Al’s – a grueling gain of 1,497’. Due to the demanding terrain, this event will be open to participants 16+ years old .
