Bringing together some of the most accomplished jazz musicians in New Mexico, this powerful ensemble delivers the energy, richness, and excitement of large-group jazz in an intimate, close-listening setting. A respected force in the regional jazz scene, Robby Beasley is known for his bold, expressive trumpet playing and his artistry as a composer and arranger. As curator and musical director of this performance, he brings a clear creative vision—blending original compositions with masterful arrangements that highlight both the individuality and collective strength of this exceptional ensemble. The program will feature Beasley’s original works alongside selections from legendary big band composers including Quincy Jones, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and John Clayton—creating a performance that is at once deeply rooted in the tradition and alive with fresh, contemporary energy.
