Bios: Formed in 2009 by pianist Steve Figueroa, Red Hot & Red is a Native-American jazz trio that realizes a long time dream of his to put together a group of indigenous musicians playing America’s only indigenous art form. Stylistically, the group plays in the traditional jazz vein with some Afro-Cuban and contemporary jazz influence as well. Figueroa, a New Mexico native of Laguna pueblo heritage, has been an integral part of the Albuquerque music scene for over 30 years. The group also includes acoustic and electric bassist Milo Jaramillo, who is a native of the Isleta Pueblo. He too has been an in-demand bassist in the New Mexico area for over 30 years. Rounding out the group is drummer David Flores who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and is a member of the Yaqui tribe from southern Arizona. Collectively, the members of this group have worked with renowned and diverse artists such as Al Hurricane & Al Hurricane Jr., Clark Terry, Donna Summer, Doug Lawrence, Frank Morgan, Larry Harlow, Lauren Hill, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Paquito D’Rivera, Sparx & Lorenzo Antonio, Steve Turre, and Tito Puente Jr.
