The Santa Fe Opera and the Center for Contemporary Arts present a special screening of The Danish Girl (2015). Part of a curated film series inspired by the Santa Fe Opera’s 2026 Festival Season, the film explores the life of pioneering transgender artist Lili Elbe and her journey of identity, transformation, and self-discovery. Before the screening, director James Robinson will introduce the film and discuss its connections to Lili Elbe, the American premiere opera by Tobias Picker and Aryeh Lev Stollman presented by the Santa Fe Opera this summer. Robinson, who directs the Santa Fe Opera production, will share insights into bringing this remarkable true story to the operatic stage. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the themes of the opera through an acclaimed film adaptation ahead of the opera’s American premiere.
