Pin looms came into existence in the 1930s and remained popular until the 1970s. Crafters created everything from blankets to swimsuits to three-piece ensembles using the 4-inch squares woven on these looms. In this workshop, you will be working on a 4×6 inch vintage-style pin loom that you will take home with you. You will also have the opportunity to work on various size and shape looms from the instructor’s collection. Once students master the basic plain weave, we will explore some of the patterned blocks that were popular during the 1930s and used to add interest and texture, as well as combining colors for additional interest. Finally, we will learn different techniques for joining blocks to create fabric for several simple projects.
