Aden Lava Flow Wilderness

Aden Lava Flow Wilderness is a 25,287-acre protected landscape in Doña Ana County, southwest New Mexico, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Located within the Potrillo volcanic field southwest of Las Cruces, the area is characterized by basalt lava flows, volcanic craters, steep-walled depressions up to 100 feet deep, pressure ridges, lava tubes, and coppice sand dunes. Vegetation consists of grasslands and desert shrubs including mesquite, creosote, cacti, and yucca. The wilderness was officially designated in 2019 and is accessed via I-10 exit 127 west from Las Cruces. Hiking, photography, dispersed camping, wildlife viewing, and stargazing are permitted.
