Arrastra Interpretive Site

The Arrastra Interpretive Site, located on the Gila National Forest's Silver City Ranger District in Grant County, New Mexico, is a day-use-only interpretive area showcasing a reconstructed arrastra—a primitive ore mill used by 1800s gold miners to process quartz and gold-bearing rock. Situated 8.6 miles north of Silver City at 6,818 feet elevation, the site features interpretive panels explaining historical mining techniques, a short walking path, parking, and stone benches. The site provides access to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail and is managed by the USFS.
