Carlsbad Caverns National Park protects one of the world's great cave systems beneath the Chihuahuan Desert in southeastern New Mexico. Visitors can hike the steep Natural Entrance Trail into the caverns or ride the elevator to the Big Room Trail. An entrance fee plus a per-person timed-entry reservation fee are required, and reservations must be secured in advance. Photography is permitted. Check the NPS website for current ticketing availability and trail hours.
