Casamero Pueblo

Casamero Pueblo is a stabilized 11th-century Ancestral Puebloan site in McKinley County, managed by the BLM Farmington Field Office. Located against the red sandstone cliffs of Tecolote (Owl) Mesa west of Grants, New Mexico, the pueblo contains 22 ground floor rooms and exemplifies Chacoan Outlier architecture with core-veneer masonry, a Great Kiva, and connections via Chacoan roads. Occupied between A.D. 1000 and 1125, the site was excavated 1966-1967 and features interpretive signs; visitors should respect the protected archaeological resource and may not touch, remove, or deface artifacts.
