Dunes Off-Highway Vehicle Area

The Dunes Off-Highway Vehicle Area is a 800-acre BLM-managed recreation area located approximately 1.5 miles south of Farmington, New Mexico, on NM-371. The terrain features large sand dunes, steep to gentle hillsides, and sandy arroyo bottoms across an open landscape without maintained trails. Managed by the BLM Farmington Field Office, the area is open year-round and free to access, though visitors must navigate around active gas wells, oilfield equipment, and pipelines.
