Eagle Peak Wilderness Study Area

Eagle Peak Wilderness Study Area is a protected landscape in Catron County, western New Mexico, managed by the BLM Socorro Field Office approximately 20 miles west of Quemado. The terrain features rolling topography with sandstone and basalt mesas, canyons, cinder cones, and lava flows. Vegetation includes piñon-juniper woodland and grassland. The WSA designation restricts development activities and offers opportunities for hiking, bird watching, dispersed camping, photography, and stargazing.
