Fort Stanton-Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area

The Fort Stanton-Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area in Lincoln County, New Mexico, protects a nationally significant cave system established by the Bureau of Land Management in 2009. The area encompasses Fort Stanton Cave, the second longest cave in New Mexico with over 56 miles of mapped passage, and contains Snowy River, the world's longest cave formation. The 73-mile trail network offers hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking through meadows and canyons with views of the Sacramento and Capitan Mountains. The site is also significant for its historic 1855 Army post, cultural, scientific, and archaeological resources.
