Lonesome Ridge Wilderness Study Area

Lonesome Ridge Wilderness Study Area is a rugged limestone landscape in Eddy County, New Mexico, located approximately 40 miles southwest of Carlsbad on the eastern side of the Guadalupe Escarpment. Managed by the BLM Carlsbad Field Office, it transitions from Chihuahuan Desert shrubs at lower elevations to sheer limestone cliffs, with steep mountains and dramatic rock formations. The area is contiguous with U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service protected lands. Golden Stairway Trail provides approximately 2 miles of hiking through the WSA.
