Mesita Blanca Wilderness Study Area

The Mesita Blanca Wilderness Study Area is a BLM-managed landscape in western New Mexico featuring rolling grasslands interspersed with isolated sandstone and basalt mesas. The area includes Red Hill Cinder Cone (approximately 500 feet in relief) and associated lava flows. Vegetation consists of grasslands and piñon-juniper woodland. Located 20 miles west of Quemado in Catron County and accessed via County Road A7/McKinley Ranch Road off Highway 60. Managed by the BLM Socorro Field Office. Stay limit: 14 days maximum.
