The Box Recreation Area
The Box Recreation Area is a 640-acre BLM-managed public lands recreation site located 6 miles southwest of Socorro in Socorro County, south-central New Mexico. Managed by the BLM Socorro Field Office, the area features a scenic box canyon with five prominent rock cliffs popular for technical rock climbing and bouldering. Facilities include a developed parking area with vault toilet, kiosk, and trailhead; however, there is no drinking water available. Primitive camping is permitted in designated sites only.
